Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas Advances into Kutchan
Wealth Management, a real estate investment company based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, has selected the Intercontinental Hotels Group’s Six Senses Hotels Resort Spas as the brand of a luxury hotel planned in the Hirafu area of Kutchan Town. The hotel is planned to provide high-quality service with less than 100 beds, and to open around 2024 to 2025.
The operation of the new hotel was outsourced to the Intercontinental Hotels Group and Hotel W Management, a consolidated subsidiary of Wealth Management. In addition to the redevelopment of Hotel Tozankaku in Kyoto City, Wealth Management will also develop a property in the Gora resort area of Hakone Town under the brand name of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas. Kyoto City is expected to be the first location in Japan to see a property open under the brand name.
Wealth Management plans to engage in hotel development and operation with group companies through a special purpose company (SPC) jointly funded by the company and external investors.
The planned construction site is in the Hirafu area of Kutchan Town, and is an area owned by a foreign corporation as a site for luxury resort development. The adjacent land was acquired in December 2020, increasing the development site from 5,946 m2 to 11,342 m2.
The Wealth Management group develops businesses in various regions centered on the real estate finance business and hotel management business. In the hotel business, it opened Aloft Osaka Dojima in February and Fauchon Hotel Kyoto in March.
